The "Get Comfy with Japanese Kansai-ben" Podcast for Japanese language learning is for intermediate/upper beginner Japanese language learners. Listening to this podcast will help you improve your listening skills, and you can pick up more Japanese, as well as some Kansai-ben.
If you didn’t know, Japanese has a number of different dialects from the many different regions of the country. One of the major, and funniest, of the dialects is Kansai-ben. Why is it the funniest? I don’t know, but it is used a lot in comedy, and by ba-chans (grandmas).
Akino starts off the “Get Comfy with Japanese Kansai-ben” podcast only speaking in Japanese. But, this only lasts for the first 4 episodes, then she began adding English explanations of what she is saying. This helps out a lot if you don’t know all of the Japanese words that she is using. Akino talks by herself in this podcast, and she talks about many different topics. She talks about music she is listening to, movies that she watches, Japanese culture (of course), how she is feeling, and many other topics.
Akino began releasing episodes of the “Get Comfy with Japanese Kansai-ben” podcast back in May of 2020. Just like many other Japanese language podcasts that began during the pandemic. Although, Akino is still going strong. She releases about an average of 2 to 4 episodes each month, and has a total of 63 episodes. The episodes last an average of 20 to 30 minutes, although a few recent episodes are around an hour in length. I would imagine that women may be more interested in this podcast, due to the topics that are discussed. However, that is a stereotype isn’t it? You may be interested in this podcast no matter what your gender is. Everyone is different, and everyone is interested in different things. I do listen to this podcast occasionally, but I prefer podcasts with two people so that I get that conversation type of dialogue. I find that more interesting.
