Kanji Reading Practice #40 - Park Signs やめよう 犬のワン

Here we have another sign that you would likely see in a park. There are only a few kanji on this sign.

There could have been more, but I think maybe they wanted it to be easier for younger kids to read. Or, as is sometimes the case, maybe these words are just normally written in kana instead of kanji. From the photo, I'm sure you can pretty much already tell what this sign says.

Kanji Reading Practice #40 - Park Signs やめよう　犬のワン has kanji from WaniKani levels 40 and below. But, I tagged it with levels 20 and below also, since only one kanji is above level 11. See down below the photo for the explanations of the kanji readings and meanings if you don't already know them. Hopefully you do already know them. This is for practice and an opportunity to see the kanji over and over again for memory.

The Kanji Readings (this usage) and Meanings:

犬 (いぬ) – dog

放 (はな) – release, set free

飼 (か) – domesticate, raise

主 (ぬし) – master, chief, main thing

The Words:

やめよう! - Let’s stop! Please stop!

放し飼い (はなしがい) – letting run free (dog, child, etc.)

ペットのワン – pet dog

飼い主 (かいぬし) – pet owner

あとしまつ – cleaning up after (could be 後始末)

みんな - everyone

まち - town

きれい – clean; pretty

The Meaning:

やめよう – Let’s stop!

犬の放し飼い – Letting your dog run free

ペットのワンは飼い主（かいぬし）があとしまつを – Owner’s pick up after their pet dogs.

みんなでまちをきれいに – Let’s clean up the town together
