“にほんごのたね Nihongo no Tane with Yumi” podcast is an upper beginner Japanese language learning podcast. The host, Yumi, is one member of “TheJapanesePage.com” couple: Clay and Yumi.
They run TheJapanShop.com website where they sell many different books and materials about learning Japanese. So, there is a bit of advertising going on in the podcast episodes, but it is not that bad. Anyway, they have some pretty good products on TheJapanShop.com.
Yumi has a great Japanese voice. What I mean by that is when I hear her voice, I think of a ‘standard’ Japanese presenter, voiceover person, or radio host. Really what her voice reminds me of are the animated Japanese shows Sazae-san or Chibi Maruko-chan. These are family anime shows that have been on television in Japan for several years. Yumi speaks a little slower than normal, but not much, and she speaks clearly so that she is easy to understand. The podcast episodes are entirely in Japanese, and Yumi talks about many different topics. You can learn about anything from self introductions to savings and monkeys in onsen.
Episodes of the “にほんごのたね Nihongo no Tane with Yumi” podcast began appearing in October of 2020, and there are currently 100 episodes. Podcast episodes are released weekly, and average around four to five minutes in length. Clay and Yumi also have a YouTube channel where they upload a variety of Japanese Language learning videos, along with episodes of this podcast.
